Well hello! Welcome to the UN'official web site of the SHARKS.
Here you will find.. what happenned, what is going to happen and a good deal of personal opinion.

Saturday 24th July we held our first 'open fun-fly' and it all went very smoothly. We had a good turnout of club members and a few passers by dropped in for a brat or three.

Here I am waiting for my first pilots to sign in at Tx Control
The 'Brit System' we ran seemed to work very smoothly. No frequency clashes and we were left with no spare Tx's at the end of the day. No complaints from the pilots either.

Jerry Heibel (pictured) with the help of Jon Gradinjan did a fine job of grilling the brats and burgers over charcoal, "it has to be charcoal, we don't want no gas".

Massive thanks go to Donna Blanke, her sister Lucy Gilsdorf and family for organising the food and drink and to them and Jan McAllister for serving our many hungry customers with a smile and a pickle.

Even if you don't come to our next fun-fly for the flying... you MUST come for the food!

Scott Heling ran a number of events through the day and perhaps the most fun was the paintball attack. Here Jon Gradinjan lays a bead on the hapless trainer cruising by.

Geoff Schukow sacrificed his Twin Star to the barrage of three shooters. On his second sortie after taking many hits the tailplane departed company resulting in a spectacular dive onto the blacktop... It'll epoxy Kerry was heard to say!

Brian French put on a very spirited display with his beautiful gas turbine F15. He seems to get better with this aircraft every time I see him fly it. Very impressive.

Scott Heling was a busy guy, Event Director and wearer of interesting hat. Not sure if that hat has some Australian origins... strewth!
I always like to see innovation......

Mike Gradinjan dreampt up this 'Demon Sled Launcher' midweek and by Saturday it was in service... attracted quite a curious (and I suspect blood thirsty) crowd. Fact is, it gave some very nice launches to a flying wing and after a few 'interesting' attempts this little power crazed Mustang got away nicely too... you have something there Mike.

So our first ever open fun fly was a success. We need to get numbers of visiting pilots up for sure so the advertising will be wider and more varied next time. Hopefully word of mouth will start to work around the area clubs too.

A good group of people worked hard to make this happen and it took many days of preperation to pull it all together.
Many thanks to you all... you know who you are!
