Well hello! Welcome to the UN'official web

All Electric Fun Fly #1 |
|
Saturday 14th August |
|
Well it has been and gone... |
|
The sun shone, the temp.
was in the low 70's and the wind 0 to 'some'. We had a great turnout considering this was our first electric fun fly and publicity was starting from scratch. Twenty pilots registered, the majority being from out of town and even out of state. So we have a great start here, a sound foundation to build on. |
|
During the day I was
asked several times, "You will be running this again
next year won't you? The answer from me and all of the club members involved is a resounding... YES! |
|
and we had traders in attendance to... Graham McAllister Designs: Park Flyer kits, bits & more Flight Endeavor: Maker of the 'ParkRacer" kit Dynamo Electrics : Full Range of Electric Flight Products Bill Kvindlog : The local model shop Hwy 57/28, Waldo, WI |
|
Phil Lin from Oshkosh brought along his
startling F-18 E Super Hornet EDF. |
|
Key Dimensions: (1/12
Scale) Wing Span: 37-inch Length: 54-inches Fan: Schubeler DS51-D1A; or WeMoTek Midi Motor: Mega 22/30/3 Batteries: 2-packs of Tanic 4s2p-4300 or -5000 connected in series; so 8s2p I have full specs. available for those who want to know more. |
|
In stark contrast here
are a pair of very practical gas to electric trainer
conversions. The model above was flown by Bill Kvindlog
to good effect. No installation details I am afraid. To the right is a Sig Kadet brought along by Charles Benner. Motor is a larger Astro Cobalt I believe, from the size of the wheels I think it will handle rough ground with ease! |
|
While you were not flying we took good care of your transmitters. I believe that good transmitter control should be the at the heart of any fly-in. We used a 'full tag system' which I imported from my UK fly-in experience. This takes away the guesswork and uncertainty of Tx ownership. If you have a Tx left at the end of the day you know whose it is, which seems like a good thing to me! | |
|
|
"Mmmmmm Mustang" as Homer would say... P51 Mustang - "Detroit Miss" 1/7 scale model, 65 in. span, 650 sq.in. wing area, 6.25 lb., geared Astro 25 cobalt(1.7/1), 16 CP2400 nicads,15x9 prop 40amp.All blue foam construction |
|
Mark Inkmann brought "Detroit Miss"
along for us to enjoy and made two nice scale-like
flights with her. I hand launched for Mark and on both
occasions it pulled away nicely. Well ok, for those who
saw it my second launch was the better of the two. Quite
easy when you consider the weight. |
|
Charles Benner again in
classic launching pose, sartorial elegance in action. The model is a pink foam twin motored pseudo fighter thingie. I think I need to get more details. Charles said it is set up for indoor, however he managed quite nicely in our almost calm conditions in the morning. |
|
Dean Weiner came along
from Milwaukee with his 'Park Racer' design (kit boxes
behind) and this big yellow cruiser. When he flew this
model he seemed to be up there awhile. He had some fun on
the blacktop (knew he would!) popping 'touch n go's' to
his heart's content. His flying of his own design and kit the 'Park Racer' was a joy to watch... very capable but yet not fast and furious, you should buy one. Hey... there is that Charles again! |
|
And no electric fly in
would be complete without a Twin Star and we had two,
well three and a half actually if you count Brian
French's 4 motored amalgam of two kits. Brian's was
struggling with battery early in the day but made a most
impressive flight of 16 minutes plus later in the day. Pictured is Bill Kvindlog's and the other Twin Star flown was that of Jim Slapikes. |
|
... And finally, A GREAT BIG
thankyou from Thankyou for making all of our efforts worthwhile. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR! And a great big thankyou from me to the hard workers above plus Jon on the grill who worked many days in preparation for our 'All Electric Fun-Fly #1' |
